Panekire Bluffs

A trip to the Panekire Bluffs can be played out however you wish, half, full or multi-day hikes offer a great hike and scenery for all abilities and fitness levels. If you are keen to have an over night stay, prepare for approximately 6 hours of hiking each day to and from the Hut.

Kick off your hike from the Onepoto bay Shelter looking over Lake Waikaremoana and take on the steady climb to the Panekire Bluff while enjoying incredible views of the lake and mountains. Follow the ridge (take care), to the grandest viewpoint at Bald Knob where you'll see vistas that almost appear as paintings. An hour on from Bald Knob you will reach the Panekire Hut, a perfect spot for the night, to rest those tired feet and recharge in nature.

Make sure to book the Hut in advance.
